Research associates from the University of Greenwich visited the Leganes field site to assess intertidal conditions and begin preliminary propagule studies alongside UPV colleagues.
The Leganes field site sits within an established mangrove landscape on Panay Island, which makes it valuable as a reference: a place to study how a healthy stand behaves and to test whether seeded propagules can extend it. Research associates from the University of Greenwich joined UPV colleagues to assess the site and agree the shared protocols that will govern the work here.
The visit covered intertidal conditions across the site, the species already present, and the practical logistics of returning for repeated drop trials. Preliminary propagule studies began during the visit, establishing the baseline measurements that later trials will be compared against.
Shared protocols
A central aim of ManRADS is that results from Panay, Java, and the other sites can be read side by side. Agreeing measurement protocols at the outset, rather than reconciling different methods later, is what makes that possible.
The Leganes site will host preliminary propagule studies through the coming season, coordinated with the laboratory work at Greenwich.
